Fines to Increase for those Caught Speeding in Minn. Construction Zones

The penalty for speeding in construction zones on Minnesota roads will ramp up this week.

Starting Friday, drivers caught speeding in work zones will face a $300 fine, in addition to speeding ticket charges. It's part of a new law approved in this year's legislative session.

St. Cloud police are investigating three incidents involving guns that occurred within hours of each other.

The St. Cloud Times reports officers responded to a fight downtown early Sunday. Police say an individual who had waved a gun wasn't identified or located.

Minor Injuries after Car Crashes into St. Cloud Apartment

There were just minor injuries after a car crashed into an apartment building in north St. Cloud Sunday night.

According to St. Cloud police, the incident happened on the 1400 block of 12th Avenue North around 10:30 p.m.

Aliya Ali Mohamed, 24, of St. Cloud drove into a lower level apartment, crashing through the wall and into the living room area.

Sheriff: Big Lake Man Threatened to Shoot Neighbor, Arrested after Standoff

A 47-year-old Big Lake man who allegedly threatened to shoot his neighbor was arrested Sunday after a standoff with law enforcement that lasted for hours.

The incident happened on the 17400 block of 165th Street in Big Lake Township just after 7 a.m.

Davanni’s is kicking off its fifth annual food drive Monday.

The restaurant is teaming up with the Emergency Foodshelf Network to help stock shelves for those in need. The organization says the donations are needed even more during the summer months to help children who are out of school for the summer and don’t have access to a school lunch program.
