Minn. Officials Offer Warning About Home Fires During Holiday Season

Officials are warning Minnesotans as we enter a historically dangerous season.

With the temperatures dropping and the holidays coming up, people can be at greater risk for house fires. Cooking, heating and open flames were the most common causes of structure fires in 2013, according to a report recently released by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Minn. Hunters Register 111K Deer Through 3rd Weekend

Minnesota hunters have registered 111,000 deer through the third and last weekend of the firearms deer season, a drop of 31,000 from the same period a year ago.

But the lower harvest is by design. Regulations were put in place to make more deer - especially does - off-limits to increase Minnesota's deer herd.

Missing St. Cloud Woman Returns Home

St. Cloud police say a missing 48-year-old woman who is considered a vulnerable adult has returned home.

Police say Melissa Ann Kristoff of St. Cloud left a home in the 600 block of 11th Avenue North on Monday night sometime between 8:10 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. It was believed she left on foot, without a phone.

Police say she may be new to the area.

Vigil Planned to Honor Anniversary of Cold Spring Officer Death

The city of Cold Spring will hold a candlelight vigil to honor a police officer killed while on duty in 2012.
The memorial at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 will mark the two-year anniversary of Cold Spring-Richmond Police Officer Tom Decker's death. The 31-year-old was ambushed, shot and killed outside of a Cold Spring bar.

Stearns County Sheriff Asks Public for Help Locating Sex Offender

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a convicted sex offender who has an active warrant.

The sheriff says 23-year-old Dylan Andrew Johnson failed to register as a predatory offender. His last known address was in Elrosa, Minnesota, but when deputies conducted their quarterly residency checks it was discovered that he was no longer living there.

Minnesota hunters have registered 102,000 deer through the second weekend of the main firearms deer season.
The Department of Natural Resources says that's down 31,000 through the same period last year. Adding in special hunts and archery, the DNR says the total harvest so far this season is 115,000 deer, down 32,500 from the same point last season.
